Frequently Asked Questions - Scotty FTP (for the Pocket PC)
- Do I need to uninstall the evaluation version prior to installing the final version?
OR
Can I preserve my database and custom settings and install the final version over the evaluation version?
You wouldn't need to uninstall the evaluation version prior to installing the final version. The install program would overwrite the respective files and configure itself to work on your mobile device, your custom user settings would be retained and you would not need to enter them again.
- Why can't I install it?
OR
When I attempt to install it, I receive the following error message during the decompression phase "The decompression of %s failed. There may not be enough free disk space available in the TEMP directory." There seems to be more than enough free disk space on my computer, what could the problem be?
This is not actually a problem with the product you are installing per se but with the install programs of some older Windows CE products. The problem usually occurs when a previous installation has been terminated, or exits without a proper cleanup job and there are files leftover in the \Windows\Temp directory which have the same names as the ones that our install program is trying to create for the setup routine. The error may also occur if the installation program does not find a "Temp" directory on your primary drive.
